| Boğulma (Choking/Drowning) | A state where the respiratory tract is obstructed, preventing the body from receiving sufficient oxygen and endangering vital functions. |
| Suda Boğulma (Drowning in Water) | A type of choking that occurs when the respiratory tract fills with water, often due to inability to swim, sudden muscle cramps, or unexpected health issues. |
| Kuru Boğulma (Dry Drowning) | A condition where a person is exposed to water, but the water does not reach the lungs due to an immediate spasm that closes the airway, preventing breathing. |
| İkincil Boğulma (Secondary/Delayed Drowning) | A condition that can occur hours or days after a water incident, where a small amount of inhaled water irritates the lungs and causes a delayed buildup of fluid (pulmonary edema). |
| Yabancı Cisim Tıkanıklığı (Foreign Body Obstruction) | A type of choking caused by a piece of food, a small toy, or another object becoming lodged in the windpipe, blocking airflow. |
| Mekanik Asfiksi (Mechanical Asphyxia) | Choking caused by an external force or pressure compressing the throat or chest, mechanically obstructing the airways. |
| Kimyasal Boğulma (Chemical Choking) | A condition where breathing toxic gases or chemical vapors (like carbon monoxide or chlorine gas) prevents the lungs from functioning properly. |
| Siyanoz (Cyanosis) | A bluish or purplish discoloration of the skin, lips, and nail beds caused by a severe lack of oxygen in the blood. It is a critical sign of respiratory distress. |
| Heimlich Manevrası (Heimlich Maneuver) | An emergency first-aid procedure for treating a complete airway obstruction, involving forceful abdominal thrusts to dislodge the foreign object. |
| Bak-Dinle-Hisset (Look-Listen-Feel) | A method used in first aid to check for breathing for approximately 10 seconds by looking for chest movement, listening for breath sounds, and feeling for exhaled air. |
